19 years of experience have gone by, but there are so many more years to come. For me, turning 19 is not too big of a deal, other than the fact that I need to remember to cherish my last year of being a teenager. I feel like I have experienced so much, but there is so much ahead of me that I am still unsure about. In today’s post, I want to touch on 19 things I’ve learned in 19 years, to share my experience.
Taking care of yourself before others. This is not being selfish, because if I can’t take care of myself, how am I suppose to take care of others? Being healthy and having a good mind set in life, is super important and will make such a difference.
Set realistic expectations. Sometimes I get ahead of myself and set really high expectations that are out of reach. Instead I need to learn to set smaller goals that are reachable.
Participate in life. I’m an introvert at times, so I need to remind myself that participating in life is important. Go out, have a drink, talk to people.
Keep your home clean. The space around me is so important to keep clean because rather than focusing on a disorganized mess, I can use my energy on something else.
Focus on what’s important. At times, I need to take a step back and remind myself what I should focus on. Instead of using my energy on useless s***, I need to learn to target my energy to what’s important.
Surround yourself with positive people. Positivity around me will naturally make me a more positive person. Don’t get surrounded by negativity. It really isn’t worth it.
Learn how to save. Saving up is a way of learning how to balance. Don’t waste the money that was earned by buying unnecessary things.
Learn how to spend. There’s no need for constant saving. The money I earn can be saved and used. It’s really all about balance.
Be open minded. Don’t always jump the gun and think you’re right. Learn to put yourself in other people’s shoes.
Treat your elders with respect. This really shows what kind of person someone is. Respect to the people who raised me is just the minimum I can do to show my appreciation.
Appreciate what you have. Don’t get caught up with what’s hyped online. There is so much more than just buying stuff.
Sleep at reasonable times. Learn to sleep, because my god sleep can make such a difference in behavior and overall health.
Be empathetic. Learn to relate to others. Not everyone comes from the same background as you. Some are more privileged and some not. Learn to relate and feel empathy.
Self control. Indulgence shouldn’t become a daily habit. Have self control, and learn when to indulge.
Make healthy decisions. What I put inside my body and how I take care of it is so important. Healthy decisions can bring in positivity to oneself.
Take a minute for yourself. Relax. Breathe. And repeat. There’s so many things happening around the world at all times. Take a minute and just relax.
Be humble. The world doesn’t revolve around just one person. Stay humble.
Eat more ice-cream. I mentioned that healthy decisions are really important, but so is eating ice-cream! Have a treat sometimes because you do deserve it.
Be happy. Just be happy.
